Ars Arcanum

NOTICE: Due to the strong Whoniverse presence in the game already, all applications featuring characters from Doctor Who, Torchwood, or Sarah Jane Adventures are restricted until we have more characters from other canons. Any applications for Whoniverse characters submitted will be declined unless you have prior permission from the mods.

First, READ THE RULES. Yes, now. Before you apply. This is important.

Done with the rules? Good Now then, what you need to do is send an email to arsarcanum@morethanmortal.com with the following subject line:

Arcanum App: your_character_name_goes_here

The bit where you put your character’s name in should be obvious.

As for what goes in the email, your app should have all this stuff in it:

Character Age and Birthday: (If you don’t know your character’s age or birthday, you can make one up or put the approximate age you’re playing them as)

Point of Departure from Canon:

Card Orientation: (Upright or Reversed)
Card Suit: (Only one of the four main suits, please. If you would like to ultimately have a Major Arcana card, put (Arcana) next to the suit of your choice. If there’s a specific card you feel would fit your character, then by all means, include it, though be aware you may not get your first choice.)

Defining Abilities and Attributes: (Please be as thorough as possible here. Anything that your character is capable of, or some physical trait that may not be obvious just by looking at icons goes here.)
Character Personality: (Again, be as thorough as possible. Minimum of one decently-sized paragraph)
Character Background: (Thoroughness is key! We want to know how much you know about this character, so we know you’ll be able to properly get into their head. On the other hand, if their backstory would take up a novella, feel free to cherry-pick only the key moments in your character’s history. Just make sure it’s a good 2-3 paragraphs, at least.)

Third Person Sample: (No minimum word limit, but should be a third person entry, like a log, that’s about three paragraphs long at least. If you have an existing piece of writing, like a fanfic or sample from another RP, that you think shows your grasp on the character, feel free to use it.)
First Person Sample: (No minimum word limit, but should be like a first person journal entry, that’s about two to three paragraphs long.)
Questions or Comments? (Anything else you feel is worth noting, about the characters or the game in general.)

Okay, do you have all that filled out? Are you sure you’ve read the rules? Then send that baby in!

Expect a response in under a week — in most circumstances, it shouldn’t take more than a day or two for us to get back to you.
