Defining Abilities and Attributes
Amber Sweet always gets what she wants. She can talk almost anyone into anything, but does it in such a charming, airheaded way that most people are convinced it was their own idea by the time she's done. If sweetness and light doesn't work, she won't hesitate to switch to full-blown spoiled-brat temper tantrums. A ferocious intelligence and finely honed focus means that she's very good at anything she turns her hand to, but she's also fickle enough that she rarely does anything for long, leaving just-completed projects in her wake with no interest in a sequel or a second appearance. She's very good at identifying people who attempt to manipulate her, and either avoiding them, or deftly turning their attempts on other targets. Incredibly flirtatious, her sexual mores are probably closer to Jack Harkness than anyone else.
Amber has changed her appearance so many times she doesn't remember what she looks like half the time, but her clothes are always on the bleeding edge of fashion (trends at home were always about six months behind her), her hair is usually a wig, and she tries to never look the same way twice. She is in excellent shape and is an able dancer, figure skater, and gymnast, and can sing and play piano. She has GeneCo's cutting-edge ocular implants, which allow her to change her eye color at will, see from the ultraviolet to infrared spectrums, and record and play back anything that she's seen. Her knowledge base is varied and eclectic, and includes a fairly in-depth knowledge of historical and current fashion; classical literature; music, particularly opera and jazz; human anatomy with a particular focus in cosmetic and organ replacement surgery; figure skating and dance; and late-twentieth-century diet fads.
Personality
Outwardly, Amber is the most popular girl in school, the head cheerleader, the driving force behind making the world a beautiful and exciting place. She's the one who always gets invited to the parties, and if you're her friend, she'll bring you along and make you feel like a million bucks - until she gets bored with you. Behind the scenes, she's an image-obsessed neurotic perfectionist with borderline personality disorder. Ferociously clever, she's hidden it behind a smokescreen of charm and ditziness since she was ten. Artistic, ambitious, creative, fickle, overtly sexual, manipulative, loyal to her family, outwardly approachable but quietly suspicious, Amber would insist that she isn't a "poor little rich girl," but she has no idea what normal looks like.
Background
Carmela Largo, the youngest child and only daughter of GeneCo mogul and "savior of humanity" Rotti Largo, was born with a golden spoon in her mouth. As her mother died hours after her birth, her workaholic father alternately spoiled and ignored her, leaving most of her rearing to a series of nannies and governesses and her brother Luigi, eleven years her senior. She grew up acting like a miniature adult except when she was denied anything she wanted, when she would throw epic tantrums. Only Luigi could calm her fits.
She took up figure skating with the same single-minded ferocity she would later apply to surgery and music, winning an Olympic silver medal at sixteen. She left her home on Sanitarium Island, off the coast of California, to work with a skating coach in Manhattan and study classics at Columbia University over her father's objections. Because of this, she refused to admit that she'd made a mistake in choosing the coach when they proved to be incompatible, struggling through to the next Olympics where she felt she failed miserably, only coming home with a bronze, after which she quit skating and changed her name.
After that, she drifted from creative endeavor to creative endeavor, including writing three books on different topics, designing a clothing line, developing a perfume, and creating the Zydrate Support Network, a community outreach program designed to help with surgical addiction. Her newest obsession was replacing superstar Blind Mag in the Genetic Opera; however, after a disastrous first outing and the death of her father, she put her musical ambitions aside in favor of the company. Some delicate behind-the-scenes negotiations led to her claiming GeneCo, and she's now in the somewhat awkward position of learning how to manage a large corporation while weaning herself off a rather serious addiction to surgery and painkillers.
