Locations
From Ars Arcanum Wiki
Welcome to the City! It doesn't have a name. Not anymore. It's the kind of place where you can go shopping and clubbing, and also get caught in the crossfire of battles between factions. Think of a cross between Chicago and Baghdad.
But there are so many delightful places to go! How can you resist exploring?

Other Public Locations
The City has most of the amenities of any large city; fast food, movie theaters, bars, opera houses, paintball arenas... whatever.
If there's someplace you'd like your character to go, feel free to invent it. Popular locations will be listed here.
Lakeside Mall
The closest mall to the Necropolis. It features the standard complement of mall stores, only slightly different from the ones you might recognize. For instance, there is no GAP in this world -- instead, there's TUC (Trendy Urban Clothing). But for all that the names are different, the stuff they stock remains mostly the same.
It's worth noting that, as dangerous as the City is, the mall's a good place to get attacked. A public place with lots of people... Yeah, did we mention that these guys aren't really playing fair? As a result, all stores in the mall have, instead of those dinky little security gates, roll-down gates with heavy metal plating, which can be locked from the inside. They can be a safe haven during a mall attack -- or a horrible trap waiting to happen.
The Lake
Yes, Lakeside Mall is by an actual lake. A very pretty lake. A very creepy lake that sometimes has weird lights in it, and sometimes things crawl out... And you really don't want to drink the water. Rumor has it that the Key Corporation and Heart Industries both dispose of their failed experiments (whether magical or technological) in there. Some of those experiments aren't quite dead yet.
Still, it's quite scenic, and nothing beats a picnic by the lake for atmosphere. It's perfectly safe! ...Mostly. As long as you don't go in the water. Or near the water. Or throw anything in the water. Best avoid the water altogether, really.
Brave souls could try fishing, but in addition to being anything but edible, the fish might just be trying to catch you.
The City Library
What it says on the tin. Although the librarians might not take kindly to people without any form of valid identification trying to borrow books, anyone can come in and read. For works on magic and Heart Industries-level technology, your best bet is still the library in your own compound, but you can learn quite a bit about the world you're stuck in there, and they've got a truly jaw-dropping collection of fiction.
One thing characters won't find in the library is the name of the City. It's almost as if it's been erased from existence. Funny, that.
